MASQUERADE
"ENJOY THE BALL"
"ENJOY THE BALL"
NAME • Masquerade
SPECIES • Felines
BREED • Melanistic Jaguar/Black Panther
AGE • Five
GENDER • Feminine
SEXUALITY • Heterosexual/straight
PERSONALITY •Masquerade may just seem like an overly strict, powerful feline who wants nothing to do with others. But this is only the first impression. Masquerade tends to talk in a bit of a monotone voice. Most animals have no idea about what she is feeling or thinking, and to others, she comes off as cocky. She is, by no means lady-like. Masquerade acts completely like a male - she likes to fight, win, and hunt. She likes to be in control and doesn't need others telling her what to do. She can live all by herself and be alright, as long as there's prey to be hunted. This may just be because she had pretty much raised herself.
She is a pretty closed-off feline and tries to avoid socialization as much as possible. Not just because she is awkward, but because she is worried too much about losing those who she loves. If she befriends somebody and gets attached to only have her heart crushed, their time spent together was only a waste. At least, that's what it is in the eyes of Masquerade.
Despite that Masquerade, does, in fact, seem unemotional and just strict, she's really not. Yes, she is indeed very strict and closeted; she isn't really one to start a conversation or be seen skipping in a field of flowers. She's very protective of herself and those she loves, and it can sometimes come off as bossy. Masquerade likes being in control. She isn't one to break rules, etc, or take things into her own hands. She believes that faith determines what happens, and there is nothing to be done about it.
Masquerade does not have many friends. Most animals find her monotone voice intimidating and chose to stay away from her. She may be brutally honest, strict, and mean, but once you get to know her, she really isn't. She has a soft spot for children and is quite motherly. She's loving and fiercely loyal to her friends. She may be a little over-protective, actually. Nobody has ever heard her laugh, but... she can, if she trusts you enough.

Because of this, she is quite the hunter. Masquerade isn't the best fighter, indeed. She isn't too muscular or skilled with fighting, but she can put up a fight. She isn't afraid to challenge somebody who is twice her size. Masquerade's pelt is completely black with some hints of gold around her eyes. Her eyes are hazel green, and contain mystery - nobody can really tell what she is thinking from looking at her eyes. "Colette? Come on!" her owner's voice gently called her name. Colette jumped off of the couch rather quickly. She would be able to watch this American television program later on. Andy and her had much better plans, she knew. And she would not turn down her faithful owner for anything. "I'm coming!" she barked, shaking her pelt roughly before padding up to her owner. She stared at him with curious eyes. Andy was getting older. He was probably twenty... twenty-three in human years by now. He had quit his job at the shipyard only a month ago. Sometimes, Colette missed the smell of the salty sea... the loud blast of honking from the ships. But being there sometimes made her upset. Being reminded of Haiku always made her upset. He had been captured by the pound people. They took him away and locked the stray behind bars. She just hoped that he was alright... She disregarded these thoughts and stared back up at her owner. His eyes looked into hers blankly. In a moment, when he noticed that he had gained Colette's attention, a bright, loving smile appeared on his face. She had never seen him smile so brightly before. What is it? A special occasion? A baby, maybe? A wedding? No, no. But Andy has no mate! She barked at him, pressing him to tell her what he was cheered up about. He was dressed better than usual: wearing a clean, blue button-up shirt. It was strange seeing him all dolled up. What could it be? Perhaps he was trying to make an impression on someone? Did somebody new move into the street? Colette jumped onto the couch once more and pressed her nose onto the window. Her eyes moved from side to side. Maybe this neighbor had a dog, too?
She felt strong arms tug at her waist. Her owner pulled her off of the leather couch and put her back down on the hardwood floor. "Be on your best behavior, lassie." he told her. "There's a new neighbor, and I want to greet him properly. Besides, I heard that he has a mutt, too." Colette yipped playfully at this last sentence. A mutt! she squealed with happiness. A dog to keep her company. That was exactly what she needed. New friends, maybe even a new love interest. But love would have to wait. Andy crouched and petted Colette under her chin. "Let's go." he smiled, brushing the lass before putting a leash on her and standing back up. Colette began to follow him out of the door. It was springtime now, yes - most of the snow had melted away. However, there was still that wintery chill in the air, which made her spine tingle. Colette kept close to her owner, knowing that he might be a little cold. After all, he was not wearing much of a jacket. Her eyes went to the houses surrounding theirs. Houses of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Big, small, green, brown, blue. Then, Andy began to walk again. Her paws followed his "paws", and, step by step, she followed him towards their new neighbors household. Oh yes, she certainly did not see this man before. Peering into the window, she caught a glimpse of their mutt, though it was only short. He looked a little bit like Haiku, though she doubted it was him. It's not him. It's just your imagination - play it cool and be nice. The thought of it being Haiku made her heart ache. She tried to ignore the feeling as much as she could as she approached the door. Andy's "paw" came up to the doorbell and he rang it several times, awaiting a response.
