Romulus trotted forward, body held like an aristocrat. His tail was high and his dark ears perked up and alert to every noise. The night was upon he and his brother, and the dark bay stallion loved the darkness nighttime brought. He felt at home there. Romulus snorted, slowing to a walk as he stumbled upon the cliff that made the river turn into a water fall. Brother, stop dragging your feet." He spoke in his deep voice.
Another stallion emerged then, hide a liver shade of chestnut. His flaxen mane and tail stood out more in the dark than his brothers black mane and tail. Remus was this studs name, and he quietly came to stand by his twin brother.Romulus, are we really going to climb down the cliff face? Wouldn't it be smarter to wait until mor-"
"Shut up Remus! We are going to make this dark descent." He nipped at his brothers hide with his teeth to get him to shut up. He snorted and shook his black mane before taking a step forward. Romulus moved nimbly over the rocks. Once he was half way down, the bay stud leapt from the rocky cliff face into the water. After a moment of being submerged, the bay stallion pushed his head to the surface and swam behind the falls. His hooves made a clicking sound off the hard stone floor. Inside was cool, but surprisingly dry. er every which way, His dark hide shivered as he continued to walk toward the back of the cave.
Hos two on the other hand felt himself quiver in fear. He hated water, from the day of his birth to the day he takes his final breath he will always hate it. His flaxen mane fell over his light brown eyes as he slowly began to pick his way down the cliff side. Remus was suddenly stopped by the thought of his mother, Cerberus. She had been taken by the river Tiber-one like this. No he couldn't go on. He had to stop.
Romulus poked his head out from the falls and snorted "Let's get going. it's just river"
Not wanting to make his brother angrier, he closed his eyes and jumped in, he flailed about as he tried to resurface but he couldn't find his way. Up was down and down was up. He kicked his hooves every which ay and tried to find his way. But he couldn't he was going to end up just like his mother!
