who am i to disagree?"
NAME • Frederick
SPECIES • Penguin
BREED • African Penguin
AGE • 5 years
GENDER • Male
SEXUALITY • Homosexual
PERSONALITY •Frederick is a very quiet penguin. He’s not outspoken about anything, really. He’s like a silent judge, keeping all of his opinions to himself unless another manages to drag it out of him. He likes keeping peace with everyone. The prospect of getting into a fight just infuriates him, so he will keep on good terms with mostly anyone he comes into contact with. Boisterous people tend to annoy him, but he keeps that, too, to himself.
His patience allows him to have a good leader quality about him. One might mistake his quietness for weakness, but it would be foolish to think such a thing. He is not a submissive animal, nor will he let others take advantage of him. If he must, he will uphold himself.
What he doesn’t let most see, however, is his tender insides. He’s compassionate and fiercely protective of those he loves and will do anything for them. Sometimes this can go too far, to the point of possessiveness or a somewhat controlling disposition, but he believes others just don’t appreciate him. He’s notorious for getting jealous when Ivaan pays a little too much attention to someone else (or vice versa), although Ivaan usually is not one to do that.
He is very set on honor and the pressure to keep a reputation standing. His sexuality is a big obstacle for him in this regard, since especially for the first few years of his life, he was very insecure about it. Ivaan helps him through it as best as the boy can, but he’s still uncomfortable about being very openly affectionate toward the other male, even with his position.

His belly is speckled in black spots and a white stripe goes down his beak, about an inch from the tip. A pink patch of skin resides ride above his eye sockets, which contains beady black eyes. He’s tall and bigger than most penguins, but not in a stocky way. He’s just more built in height.

HISTORY •Frederick was hatched to the leaders of the penguin flock. His father was a stoic male. His mother always liked to inform him how affectionate his father was when he was a chick, but it seemed as he grew older, his father developed a sort of distance to him. Maybe it was because he could sense he was different, or maybe he just wasn’t comfortable with showing his affection, much like Fred himself.
His father liked to teach him things that he believed would be helpful when he, one day, would have to take over in his place. Frederick was tentative, but mainly just to be polite to his dad. He didn’t hold a huge interest in leading a bunch of penguins around, much less ruling a territory for himself (even with his natural instinct to lead), but he knew it was important to his father. Regardless of their disconnect, he still revered him and wanted to make him proud.
That was why it became such a huge problem when Frederick noticed something a little peculiar about himself. It happened not too long after the other penguins had started talking about the idea of mates. It was not a foreign concept at all. Everyone knew that one day, each would find their own, and they would have their own eggs and then chicks to look after. The problem came where the idea of taking a mate didn’t sound that all appealing in Fred’s mind.
For a long while, he thought it was just him being uninterested in mates at that point in time. He would grow out of it. When the time came, he would find the perfect someone to make him happy. A nagging feeling in the back of his mind that told him he would never like a female kept tugging at him, but he chose to shrug it off as simple immaturity, as did his mother when he brought it up to her.
Not once had he thought of the possibility that it something else. That was until he met Ivaan. This penguin was not afraid to tell it like it was, including being very open about his sexuality. At first, Frederick resented him. He was careful to not let himself to grow too fond of the male, but fate had its way and their paths entwining were inevitable. Ivaan opened him up to a world of openness, without a fear of rejection, and before Fred knew it he had embraced the whole idea.
Discomforts still boil inside of him, but now he is happily mated with Ivaan and he greatly appreciates the love and support that the guy gives him. Their seemingly opposite personalities don’t really tangle as one would expect, but it’s not like they’re completely opposites anyway. Now Frederick rules the penguins with Ivaan by his side.
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE •FROM ANOTHER RP SITE I’M ON;
For a moment she was quiet and Amari wasn’t really sure if the girl was ever going to answer him. As if one really had to think about their name, honestly! He couldn’t imagine such a thing, but maybe the Terrian girl was just very thoughtful. Like one of those types of people who takes a very long time to consider every little thing in a conversation before deciding to speak. What could be motivating that had to be different between each person, but in this girl’s case he interpreted it as nervousness.
Mari had dealt with shy people before, so this wasn’t anything new. He found that if he was just extremely flamboyant as always, but balanced his excessive talking with asking them questions and seeming very interested in them, they seemed to warm up very quickly. This was good and Amari found it rather easy to pull off, being, well, him! Who could resist his stunning friendliness other than just really cruel people? No one, that’s who!
“I'm...Nalani Sullivan..no one important really.”
That’s what the girl told him as she played with her hair, her whole demeanor just sweet and soft and delicate, like a pretty flower. Cocking his head at the girl, he pondered over what she had said for a minute. “Nalani, that’s a nice name,” he decided aloud, smiling at her and pulling the lollipop from his mouth to allow him to speak better. He twirled it in his hand while he introduced himself, “I’m Amari!”
Amari’s feet drummed on the ground behind him, but he soon found the girl wasn’t finished speaking. “It's okay though...I was important to my parents while they were still...around.” And her face seemed to drift into a very serious and vacant expression, as if to indicate that although she was speaking to him, her mind wasn’t totally there. Maybe it was because she was talking about her parents. What had happened to them? She said when they were still around. Whether they were dead or had simply gone away, he didn’t know, so naturally Mari felt inclined to ask despite how nosy it might be. He was a Colorcoat, after all. Manners weren’t necessarily well known amongst his kind. He had the decency to spread some nice words, though, seeing as he wasn’t going to ask to purposely be rude.
“Oh, I’m sure you are important to other people besides just them! Everybody’s important, no matter what. They just don’t always know it, you know~ You’re probably meant to do something really awesome in your life, I bet. You’re so cute and quiet; people probably underestimate you, right? Just watch! Everyone who thought little of you will be sorely surprised when you do something just great! I know it, I know! Hehe~”
Amari giggled, but not to negate the seriousness of what he said. He meant every single word of it, he did. That was just how he was. Automatically thinking very highly of those around him, especially wolves like the one that sat next to him.
“So what happened to your parents?” he asked sweetly, his expression completely innocent and void of any knowledge that it was really none of his business. She had added that little part herself, right? So then that was an invite for curiosity at its finest, and she would be silly to not realized she had sparked such a thing. If she got upset or refused to tell him, though, he definitely wouldn’t press her. No, upsetting people was no good at all. Very mean, indeed! Sticking the lollipop in his mouth to show his being finished speaking and allowing her speech again, Amari batted those adorable doe eyes at the Terrian girl.
