PERSONALITY •It is, perhaps, impossible to pin any one trait on Abaddon. He is shrouded with an aura of malevolence, charisma, and mystery all at once. Ah, his words, honey-dipped and poisonous. Ah, his intentions; dark and unimaginable, bigger than life, smaller then a speck of sand. His aspirations, his desires, his animalistic passion—all of it is contained behind those stoic eyes of his, eyes of the devil. And perhaps, this is the most apt way to describe his personality. With his eyes; eyes colder and bigger than life—vast, in the sense that the ocean is vast, impenetrable in the sense that space is impenetrable.
Abaddon is mysterious and cryptic. He understands how things work, how other individuals work; therefore he distances himself from them. Outside of that, he does not necessarily “believe” in emotions. This is half due to his belief, and half due to the fact that he’s lost his faith in almost everything outside of his religion. He does not trust his own feelings—therefore he denies them. As a result, his expressions range from emotionlessness to boredom to a vague, empty sort of humor. Everything about Abaddon seems empty.
Despite the fact that something seems off about him, Abaddon is ridiculously charismatic. He knows what to say, how to act, how to flatter and how to persuade. He gets other's to like him, almost never suspecting what sort of demon lays beneath the surface. With that being said, Abaddon is characteristically manipulative and deceptive. He leans how to get someone in his claws, how to twist them once their there--he'll pin you like a butterfly to the board, as soon as he's given the opportunity. But then, no one knows much of anything about Abaddon. He lies constantly, and he has a con man's smile.
Although it doesn't seem to be the case at first glance, he is a very malicious individual. This is not due to the fact that he enjoys senseless violence--no, far from it. Its just his belief. He is involved in a religious cult called the Nex. Their religion is complex and dark, supporting the God of Death, Cruor. Due to this, Abaddon is a strong supporter of cannibalism, self-mutilation, and masochism. Although, none of this is to be done in excess, and only in the right moments. He is known to preform sacrificial rituals, body mutilation, and things better left unsaid in the pursuit of his deity.
LIKES • control of a situation, understanding a person, gaining the upper hand, silence, the darkness, vibrant colors, blood, pain, pleasing his god, ritualistic sacrifices, meat, life, innocence
DISLIKES • sinners, disbelievers, innocence, pity, weakness, ignorance, stupidity, emotion, passion, fools, dull colors, dull people, stupid conversation, things that waste his time, the thought of living without a purpose, his blindness, his own weaknesses
WEAKNESSES • vain, "righteous", masochistic, his religion, his narrow-mindedness, his blindness
STRENGTHS • clever, observant, most things physical, charismatic
FEARS • Death--despite the fact his religion focuses on it, he cannot seem to accept death himself. He's under the impression he has a concept of Death, but his religion believes that most people simply stop existing after they die. He is afraid of not existing.
RELIGION •
Nex cult center around worship of a death deity. common belief among this cult is that they owe their deity payment for life and bodies they have been given, therefore the practice of sacrifice, blood-letting, and other gruesome rituals is not uncommon. In fact, ritualistic acts of violence are a part of the cult itself. This also includes ritualistic cannibalism. However, the flesh of an individual's fellow species in the cult is viewed as sacred and “valuable”. This is because all animals are the direct creation of their god, and while their god demands payment in death, they are not to abuse the god’s creation. The body is often considered aesthetic and an amazing, fluid creation.
Life itself is to be viewed as worthless. However, the body of an individual is worth much more. Members of the cult are expected to understand the value of the body. They are to understand that life is only temporary, and that it will eventually come to an end. The body will decay. Death, however, is not to be feared. It is to be awaited. The conscious servants of the death-god are treated well after death—reincarnation is not an uncommon belief in the cult, or at least it is not an uncommon belief in the “upper members” of the cult. This is because the “upper members” or “priests” are believed to be especially valuable to Cruor, the death god. Therefore he might gift them with resurrection and “immortality”. He might allow the conscious of the individual to have another body. And while members do not believe in souls and emotions, they do believe in logic and thought. They believe that if Cruor favors them, they might be placed into another body.
To become a member of the cult, one is expected to fulfill a number of requirements. The first of which is the ability to sacrifice emotions in favor for the logical side of life and death. Senseless violence is not appreciated—every drop of blood ever shed is shed in the name of the Blood God, therefore it sacred. However, the cult also centers on the wildness of an individual and the individuality of the individual themselves. Uniqueness is cherished within the cult.
Cultist rituals vary drastically. Within the cult, members are expected to undergo self-mutilation and blood-letting. Violence amongst the members is expected, because it weeds out the weaker individuals—weakness in the body or in the mind is practically a sin. Violence also proves an individual’s dedication to the cult. Therefore, it is expected that members of the cult are willing to be abused, if not by the priest, then by one another. Masochism is an appreciated trait in the cult. This is partially because the members believe that by inflicting pain upon one another and enjoying it, they are worshiping their deity and showing the strength of their bodies.
Mythology in the Nex cult varies. They believe that the world was created when a great black serpent laid several eggs, the largest being the sun, the smallest being the moon, and one of them being the earth. Another egg hatched into a second snake, this one white and smaller then the black snake. The white serpent decided that the universe the black serpent had created was boring, and therefore the white serpent created spectral beings without physical bodies, but with consciousness to inhabit earth. These beings grew restless and confused, for they could not feel, only think and feel emotions. The black serpent was angered at the white serpent’s interference; so the black serpent gave all of these “spirits” flesh and blood. He gave them bodies.
It was then that the gods were given names. The black serpent became Cruor, for he had given the beasts flesh and blood, and his name meant Blood. The white serpent was named Anima, for Spirit. After the formation of the spirit’s bodies, they separated into three different groups. The first group was the Nex, who worshiped Cruor. The second group was the Pacim, who worshiped both gods. And the third was the Vigoratus, who worshiped only Anima.
Currently, we are focusing on the Nex—this is the cult fraction that Alastar belongs to. The Nex believe that the body is not eternal, that it will wear out and decay. But they also dislike Anima for creating “spirits” without Cruor’s permission. Therefore, they do not believe that a body has a soul. They do not believe in the afterlife, outside of reincarnation, which is reserved for only the most dedicated Nex members. Because of the body’s decay, they worship Cruor, who gave them their bodies and their “lives” by blood, death, and carnage. Flesh is considered to be the direct creation of Cruor, and therefore it is sacred. Emotions are foolish, and belong to Anima’s spirits. Because of this, Cruor’s followers are not emotional. By giving back blood to Cruor, they are returning their bodies, giving back what they were given. Most cult members believe that their bodies are only "borrowed" and that they must be "returned" once they die.
APPEARANCE •He is, in appearance, the devil's double. Abaddon has been born from the shadows, as cliche as the description may appear. It is fitting. His fur coat, soft in texture, is a startling shade of black. It is broken only by the slightly darker black coloring of his various rosettes--they appear almost invisible compared to the rest of his raven fur. Abaddon is obviously designed for stealth, from his dark fur coat to his lean, agile build. He is extremely flexible, with powerful jaw muscles adapted to slaying prey much larger then himself. Leopards primarily live in trees--therefore is is designed to be agile. He is particularly tall in height, reaching about 30 inches at the shoulder, but he only weighs around 135-140lbs. It fluctuates depending on his food source at the time. He is a very good example of his breed, with a long body and comparatively short legs. He is also spectacular due to his extensive scars. Most of them are hidden beneath his fur, but the visible scars cover most of his fur--particularly on his face and legs, where most of them are located. Abaddon's eyes are a fiery, hellish color of hazel--they appear, more or less, a combination of amber and yellow, but closer to the pupil there are various flecks of green.

HISTORY •
Abaddon was deprived the one thing he wanted. Freedom. But, ah, isn’t that a trivial word? He would argue, insist that no one is free of the one thing they need freedom from. Themselves. But, we’re getting sidetracked. Abaddon was born in captivity.
