AUDITIONS "That's how the world goes; kill, or be killed." HELLO, EVERYONE! Grey here, obviously, with some news! With the site being opened, we're bound to get people hoping to be leading a herd, pack, pride--or whatever else you can come up with--so, I figured I should open up some auditions for the land available! At the moment, there are EIGHT FOUR lands availible, and unfortunately, I will not let them just be claimed. I want to find active leaders for each, and will wait until the site has become a wee bit more populated to choose. Anyhow, enough of my rambling--anyone who wishes to have an animal of their own run a territory, reply with the form below! Keep in mind, I will not be letting solitary animals lead big groups. If it's against their nature, you shouldn't go against it. C:
NOTE: For the time being, I will not allow the same species of animal to own two different lands. Say, for example, two lions Audition--I will only pick one winner, in whom will get the land. Even if they go for different lands. That way, it'll keep restrictions to others down.
[blockquote][blockquote]CHARACTER'S NAME: Here SPECIES/BREED: Here AGE: Here REASON THEY'D BE A FIT LEAD: WHICH LAND?: Please state your desired land here! EXAMPLE POST: This must be in-character, and must demonstrate how you animal would be a good leader. How you do this is up to you entirely.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

CHARACTER'S NAME: Shenzi SPECIES/BREED: Spotted Hyena AGE: 6 years REASON THEY'D BE A FIT LEAD: Shenzi has a deep affection for all members of her clan, whether they like it or not. She is both fair and steadfast in her beliefs, and will offer nothing less than a fair trial, but will persecute without remorse. The safety of her clan is her number one priority, and she will go to whatever lengths she needs to maintain it. This means that she will protect her clan from enemies, both foreign, and domestic. WHICH LAND?: Barren Prairies EXAMPLE POST: "What's your problem?" She spat in his face. The hyena smirked, and shook the saliva off. He advanced on her, his teeth showing. She held her ground, despite the fact that he was much older than she was and, though the clan was matriarchal, it was universally allowed for anyone to beat on her.
"You, Shenzi. You are my problem. You and your homosexual ways.
" He snarled in disgust. " You are an abomination." The female still held her ground, though she offered to act of hostility in return. She had learned much from these beatings, and was confident that he wouldn't hurt her as much as he hoped. But he caught her off guard with his next statement. " The others think you can change, that you can be taught that your way is wrong. But I don't." He snickered. " No. The only way to fix your problem is to kill you." Her eyes opened wide in horror as he made three swift movements and the ground beneath her rumbled.
Shenzi nearly bit through her tongue trying to suppress the memory. " Ouch." She muttered, shaking her head. She blinked, returning to reality for the first time in ten minutes. She lay out on her side in the shade beneath one of the few trees that had managed to take root on the plateau, dozing in the heat of the midday sun. Unfortunately, her shade had slithered away as the sun moved across the sky, leaving her legs and stomach exposed to the hot rays. With a sigh she rolled to her feet, standing and shaking the dirt from her coat. Her memories had always plagued her, usually in her sleep as nightmares, but recently had started to grow in frequency as well as intensity. Without a sound she picked up a smooth trot, heading across the flat expanse of the place. Perhaps it had something to do with her new role as Matriarch of the Hyena clan. Or maybe her mind was finally unraveling. She grunted. The spotted hyena approached, after a good while of travel, another tree, similar in looks to the one she had previously been laying under. The only difference was that this one had little to no grass around its base, and the dirt was packed down hard from multitudes of paws treading upon it. It was the gathering place for the clan. Yet, it was always bare. Even when the clan came to a meeting, there was nothing but the tree and the paw-prints in the dirt. Shenzi lifted her forepaw, holding it at a precise angle, and dipped her head. Stamping her paw down, she threw her head back and the rock before her rumbled for a brief moment before erupting into a large tunnel that led under the earth. She moved into it and descended a few feet before stomping a back foot to close the entrance. Hyenas have excellent night vision, which enables them to see rather well even in complete darkness such as this, so maneuvering further down the tunnel was no problem. After several hundred feet the tunnel opened into a wide chamber with a high ceiling. Here the scent of the clan was the strongest. Two clan members lay side by side, muttering quietly. They looked up when Shenzi entered, and offered a dip of their heads in respect. The matriarch shook her head in disapproval, and padded up to them. " Just because I am your matriarch, doesn't mean I am not your equal. I deserve only the respect I give, and nothing more." They nodded, each bearing a smile. " Would you care to join us?" One asked, using his head to motion for her to sit down. She nodded. " We were just speculating the reason behind your reign as matriarch. Care to enlighten us as to the specifics?" He grinned good-naturedly, and Shenzi returned the favor. " I hope to give my clan the freedom that was denied me my entire life." She explained calmly. " The freedom to exist as you see fit, and without the opinions of others forced upon you." She bobbed her head, blinking away the beginning of another memory. " As long as that existence does not threaten the clan." Such cryptic words from a usually straightforward creature. She wasn't sure why she felt she had to choose her words carefully. For a moment, she believed that they wouldn't understand what she truly meant. Her gaze searched their faces, but she saw understanding in their expressions. " It isn't that you wish to limit how one wishes to live but, rather, that you set certain parameters for the safety of the individual as well as the clan." The first member stated, as though he had been given a cue to do so. The second piped up after a moment. " One deemed too great a threat to themselves or the clan will be put down. But only if beyond hope." Shenzi was amazed at her clan's understanding of her confusing logic. She was proud, nonetheless, and couldn't help but smile broadly at the two of them. It was then that another hyena entered the main chamber. One that carried with it an air of defiance. The three turned their gaze to the newcomer, and Shenzi's eyes narrowed in suspicion. She rose to her feet. " Spreading more of your hippie bullshit, Shenzi?" The female spat. She tittered at her matriarch as though she was a newborn being taught right from wrong. " You should know better. You don't want to allow your clan freedom. You want to make sure that they conform to your standards." A wicked grin spread across her muzzle as she awaited Shenzi's response. " And you are entitled to think that way." The matriarch replied calmly. " You are allowed to think however you wish until it brings harm upon the clan." Shenzi watched with satisfaction as she saw the foiled expression on the antagonist's face. The hyena hesitated, looking caught between surprise and embarrassment, then turned to leave, grumbling to herself. The matriarch turned and said a polite farewell to the two clan members she had conversed with, and padded down one of the many forking tunnels toward her private quarters. " Until it brings harm upon the clan..." She muttered under her breath. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

CHARACTER'S NAME: Redrum SPECIES/BREED: Cape Hunting dog / African Wild Dog AGE: 4 Y REASON THEY'D BE A FIT LEAD: Redrum is hard-ass, a bad-ass and sometimes, an asshole. All great leadership qualities. Allow me to explain. Being a hard-ass, Redrum would set up a base set of rules. There will be no trickedy-trick, no loop-holes, no exception to rule, no NOTHING that would change these rules. They would be set in stone and thus, there will be no change. They follow these rules, and Redrum would expect little else. The punishment, from breaking these rules would be a harsh one. Not only would Redrum go out and call them on their crime in a pack meeting, she would beat them down until they had little left. God forbid someone finds a back-bone and try to question these rules. Which leads us to the second. She is a fighter. She was not made into one. She was born one. She will have every single limb, ripped from her body before she bows down to someone she thinks is worthless. If it means protecting her pack until she is nothing but a fur carpet for the oppenent to step on, then so be it. Nothing will stop Redrum, so help her, if war were to be declared. Finally, assholery. Although Redrum lacks intelligence, Redrum has heart. And that is saying something. She thinks straightforward, and blunt. There are no lies behind her. If she has a reason, an idea, she will share it. She speaks the truth, the whole and nothing but the truth. Although it may not always be the truth you want to hear, you will know that there is no second side to the story from Redrum. She speaks forward, a straight-shooter and thus, you will never hear a lie cross her lips. If she promises to protect her pack with every fibre of her body, then it is a promise she will keep. WHICH LAND?: Jagged Cliffbase EXAMPLE POST: She was dreaming. It was a terrible dream, or at least some of Redrum thought so. She hated the water, the rain and the weakness she felt with it. But there was also a sense of freedom, a lack of care that she felt in it's breeze. The smell of salt was strong and she managed a smile. She was in the middle of the ocean, a sail on a ship. She reckonized it was boat, for back in Africa, there had been some boats on the river. Small, but they were marvelous and interesting to see. But this was so grande! So marvelous in size! The ship sank a little and she could feel the waves brush the side of the ship, rocking them forward. The sun was kissing her scars and she smelt nothing but salt, the scent of the tropics on her tongue. Although her stomach was sore, her ship was sailing and she sailing away from her home and the terrors that consumed her. Gone, from the sinking shadows her father put her in. Nothing but the islands in the south. Away from the stupid people and the hungry. The desperate and the hot. She laughed for the first time in years as the ship turned sharply, causing her to lose grip and sail to the edge. Laughing louder than before, she stuck her head out and let the water soak her chest as the sun beat down on her. Not as boiling or hot, but merely warm. She enjoyed the feeling. Suddenly, the ship started to creak. Was someone on her boat? Turning her head, her eyes opened wide before she felt the claws dig into her shoulders, sinking into her flesh and digging down her back. She let out a scream, as the blood fell onto her deck and the pain was white-hot against her neck as the claws moved to her neck. you are worthless, you aren't worth the dirt you stand on. The words cut her like a knife and she turned, turned to scream at her father. But her throat choked as she saw the bloodlust in her lover's eye. 'Rylin?' A hushed whisper. And was unable to move as he brought down the claw to her cheek. Off balance, she toppled into the ocean, as the once warm water turned to ice, choking her, the bloody smile of Rylin staining underneath her eyelids.
'Leader?' Something broke through the water, and Redrum rose from the drowning ocean sea, rising to the land of living and non-dreaming, gasping and tasting iron on her tongue. Her shoulders ached and she licked her chest in a hurried, flustered fashion. Cracking an ebony eye at the other canine, her ears flicked in annoyance. "Don't call me that."
She muttered underneath her breath, before getting to her feet. She yawned and stretched her limbs in a rather lazy fashion before turning to the other wild dog, who stood there with wide eyes and shaking spine. Call it a hunch, but Redrum had a feeling that this interruption was not good. She raised an eyebrow that let her dead eye dance as the companion flicked his head to the outside, gulping in fear. Oh yeah, bad. Rolling her shoulders, she stepped from the darkness of her den and into the light. Blinking as her eyes adjusted she looked down below at the crowd that was beginning to form. Leaving the cliff she had picked to be her den, she skidded down the track in graceful ease, dust exploding from her claws as she landed down on the ground, ears forward in curiosity, still at unease. Although there was an air of confidence around her, she was still unnerved by the whole leader thing. It started when she gave a little raw meat to some lost wild-dogs. It didn't seem signifigant at the time to offer them shelter in the abandoned tunnels and holes in the cliffside but then, to her surprise they didn't leave. They stayed there. Accompanied her. And the whole morning when she woke up to find an already bloody haunch of some zebra at her door. It was nice. She set up ground rules and then, you know as these things have a habit of doing, it grew. And so, with every nice thing, came a price. So she looked the furry maracca on her right to the wild-dog in the center. What is going on? She asked, avoiding the normal vulgarity that would accent every sentence. It was too soon after waking up to do something stupid like this. The oppenent sneered at Redrum and she rolled her eyes. "You don't want to be leader, youv'e made that pretty clear. So I'll take over." He said proudly, puffing his chest like some goddamned peacock. "Yeah, well. No." She replied, quick as whip. The look of puzzlement bewildered others, shock breeding through the air as whispers ran from one ear to the other. The center man growled in anger. "Yeah? Why not?" "Because if I was voted as your leader, than I'll stay that way. But if it's a vote for you, then yeah, congratulations to you." She explained. Yeah, real frightening. But it was diplomatic. She had already told everyone earlier in time that if someone, anyone wanted to step up for a position, they would be welcome to. But no one answered. Until that happened, she would stay. 'If we voted for him to be leader, would you stay?' One woman asked, voice soft as feathers. Redrum shook her head. A simple answer. Some shoulders sagged, others drooped their ears. Redrum wasn't exactly a social wolf, this being the only ties she had to the certain area. The one woman cocked her head in thought and before looking at the beraggled Red before shaking her head. ''Why fix something that isn't broken?" This was followed by several nods and what could be even smiles. Weird. Both Redrum and the center rival looked baffled, Redrum merely bowed her head. How the hell could she react to that? 'No!' She lifted her head slightly, bemused and annoyed. This was over, let the dead dog lie. She had a couple of dreams to catch up on. But she reckonized that stance, the hackles, the fury in his eyes. And she would match it. Before the rival could even growl, Redrum was on him. Snarling with teeth bared, and the fur amongst her spine rose to full height, she plowed him over, the circle of painted dogs scattering like raindrops. He didn't stand a chance. Every time he tried to get to his paws, she would tackle him with his front, battling him with sharp claws, pushing him down with muscules and heart-stopping snarls. She had seen lions use this same technique, and she tried it on many others, proud with the strange effect and success it had on oppenents. Finally, her paws stopped battling, hitting his side and one on his throat, she dipped her head in such intense, letting nothing but the sting of hot breath and her eyes knock on her oppenant. 'These people have spoken. I am the Leader. Me. Not you. Until you are, don't try that shit again. Do it, and I make your spine a rawhide bone for the pups to play with.' A deadly whisper, intoxicating him. More she pushed on his throat, not enough to choke, but hopefully for him to get the message across. He coughed, squirmed before eyes blinked and shook. Fear. Good. He should be afraid. Backing off, she rolled her shoulders, eying the other as he slunk away, no doubt to cower in the dirt. Of course, now that the battle was done, and the awkward hold she had on these kicked in. Now that she had enforced in her leadership.. she had to stick by it now right? "Well uh, now that's over. Let us.. gather up a hunting.. party?" She muttered to the feather soft wild dog, who smiled gently, nodding. With mutual wonder and rather strangely, pride and more strangely, happiness, Redrum set off, with one could say her pack. The beginnings of unknown to her, a new family. CHARACTER'S NAME: Val Jean SPECIES/BREED: Eastern Lowland Gorilla AGE: Seventeen Years REASON THEY'D BE A FIT LEAD:
Val Jean craves socialization and acceptance from others - to an extent. However, he has problems following laws set by others as he often times feels the need to rebel and claims to have "better rules" than those he is meant to follow. He also has an extremely dominant nature that results in him wanting to be in charge at all time. However, he also has a caring side that he cannot nourish as of now - due to his lack of socialization from others like himself - and feels a bit empty living on his own. He is intelligent and could easily solve massive problems that may arise within a group and is also a hard worker and would work to keep his members happy, healthy and active.
WHICH LAND?: Beach Caverns EXAMPLE POST:
The sun rose normally over the horizon, as it did every morning that Jean had lived on this earth if not longer. The seventeen year old blinked from the sudden light that shined in the darkness of the cavern he had chosen as his own. A smaller one than most, but it was the highest up from all the others and held a fantastic view of not only the waters below, but a good look at the other formations in the rock. From his chosen perch he could view his entire troop and watch over and protect them from any impending dangers that he himself were capable of preventing. His eyes narrowed slightly, his black pupils shrinking with the sun's light intruding within them. Turning his back he glanced behind him at his comfortable den. Where he sat he had already created a bed of leaves and grasses that would last him a week at most in this dry, summer weather. It wouldn't be long before him and some other foragers from his group would have to raid the jungle for more padding to create their hammocks and wild mattresses. He let out a short snort as he looked at the walls of the cave. Damp and dark they were as well as confined. However, the cave was large enough for two, perhaps even three gorillas to remain comfortably. It would cause no problem at all when mating season began. With a loud yawn and quick stretch of the arms - reaching them up then out - he reached behind himself and scratched his back before climbing to his feet and knuckles. Padding out of his claimed cave he proceeded to carefully make his way down the rocks and towards the beach.
As he passed by individual holes and caverns he let out grunts and roars, warning his followers that it was indeed sunrise and thus time to get up. As he made his way downwards, the final drop being a little too steep, he was forced to grab a sturdy hold while dangling himself down until he felt comfortable enough to let go and land in the soft sands. Such a strange feeling and texture this type of earth held when it slid between his fingers and toes. Often times he had just stopped what he was doing to watch the younger apes play in the dirt, or perhaps even allowed himself to play. This was all, of course, dependent on the brute's current mood. Right now he was feeling tired and dreary - as could be seen from the bags beneath his eyes. It had been far too long since he had gotten a good night's rest.
Chocolate eyes watched eagerly as the others began to arise. One by one they seemed to be appearing, all yawning and snorting, some younger apes growling and poking at one another. Jean couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he thought of a time when he himself had had a brother for which to growl and poke at. However, that had been what seemed like forever ago. He preferred not to think about it. Glancing around at his troop he noticed that most had gathered around for the morning commands. Others would still be sleeping or perhaps had managed to slink off sometime during the night. 'No matter,' the large, black brute thought to himself, 'they will receive punishment sure enough.' There was no more use in waiting as he had learned over the years. His ears twitched a bit at the bickering noises of the other primates. With a loud roar and a fist pounding against the ground sharply, he silenced them. "Listen up!" he yelled over the masses, "I know it is the season of summer and thus food is plentiful, but we can never be too careful. I need a gathering party to go and scout out the territories most abundant with good fruits. Understand?" He paused only briefly, acknowledging the nods and quiet mumbles of the crowd. "I will let you decide amongst yourselves who shall go. Be back before the sun reaches its high point."
His voice was commanding, that of a leader. As he spoke he lifted his head upwards as well as his right fist, pointing towards the "high-point" in the sky. "Any questions?" he asked, his voice ringing like a bell over the crowd. With only a few gorillas glancing around and others mumbling softly to themselves he assumed the answer was "no." "Alright, you're all dismissed." With his announcement made he turned away from them and trudged towards the water. Behind his silver back he could hear them quietly get up and disperse, little by little, until no one remained. The large brute sat down at the edge of the water, the waves brushing gently against his toes. He was young and strong and he knew it, but why did he feel so helpless? Using his right hand's thumb and forefinger he rubbed his brown eyes in thought, slowly allowing his touch to lower and fall upon the scars of his face, the scars of his past. Dropping his hand to the ground he let out a large, obnoxious sigh, his entire body seeming to heave in the process. A soft sound caught the large male's attention as he turned his head sharply to the left, his gaze falling upon an older female. She paused slightly, obviously submissive before continuing her advance and seating herself next to Jean. He turned his head back towards the ocean waters, a grunt escaping his lips. She sat facing towards him, her head tilted curiously to the side. Slowly, she lifted her hand as if to touch the deep wounds still visible upon the male's face. With a loud roar, Jean jumped to his feet, backing away from her. What do you think you're doing?!" he yelled, anger the only thing prominent in his features as he stood tall, looking down at her in a dominant manner. "Hmm?" asked the elderly primate as she let her hand fall to her lap. "Where did you get those?" she inquired. "That's none of your business," he huffed, turning the other way and plopping his bum back into the sand. He crossed his arms and hunched his shoulders, showing absolutely no interest in what the wench wanted. She was obviously senile. Thinking he heard her leave he turned his head just enough to peek. She was still there, grinning at him. After showing a brief moment of surprise within his eyes he abruptly turned back around. "You know," she started, scooting herself closer to him by using her hands to pull her forward through the sand, "Every one of us has secrets about our past. It's whether you're willing to share or not that really makes a difference."Unable to hide his peeked interest any longer he turned himself around, spinning on his butt while using his hands to turn his body. "What do you mean?" Her smile widened at his acceptance of her. "I used to be young and beautiful once," she said, somewhat unexpectedly. "In fact, I used to be queen of my troop." She paused, as if relaxed in the memories of luxury. "That is, until the storms came and everyone was gone. I mean, I was already old when that all started happening but at least I wasn't mistreated." Jean stood up with a growl at this remark. "Calm down sonny," she assured, waving her hand, "not that I'm mistreated here. Perhaps it's just my age catching up with me." She let out a short sigh. That was when Jean realized that there were others like him, others that had to feel just as alone as he did. Softly, he brushed her hand with his, a smile upon his face. She smiled weakly back. Val Jean's head instinctively perked up and he clamored to his feet. Adrenaline was in the air as another male was on approach, one that Jean had reluctantly accepted into his band of misfits. This male held himself high and orderly, his head held high and his teeth bared. "Well well well, if it isn't our strong leader mingling with an elderly wench," he spat, his gaze shifting between the two of them. "I thought you were better than this." He smirked in a taunting manner. The younger, yet larger male felt his muscles tighten and clench beneath his skin and fur. Climbing to his hind legs and pounding on his chest a few times with his left hand he took two confident steps forward. "Know your place Tanook!" he roared before falling back to his knuckles. With a snort his competitor lunged forward, arms out grabbing Jean's stomach and knocking into his gut. Caught off guard, Jean tumbled backwards, landing in the water and muddy sand. With an angry growl he kicked the male in the stomach, knocking him back a bit before rolling back onto his feet. He quickly dodged a quick downwards punch from Tanook and thought fast. Lowering his hand to the ground he grasped some sand, the solid slipping through his fingers, and threw it toward the head of the brute rushing towards him. Blind with fury - and sand - the smaller male began flailing all around in an attempt to hit his opponent. Jean took advantage of this moment and moved in behind, gripping the male from the back, one arm around the other's and one arm around his throat. Using all his mass, Jean pushed himself forward, on top of his opponent, pinning him to the ground. The older brute growled in submission and Jean allowed him to stand. With a single snort given towards the loser the fallen gorilla clamored to his feet and ran back towards the caverns in defeat. Jean's gaze was harsh as he watched the weaker ape trudge back towards safety. He was the leader. He would protect his clan, his troop, his tribe, his family.
With a startled twitch the male awoke in a tree he had familiarized himself with. A sigh escaped his dark lips. It was only a dream. However, someday he would have a troop to protect. His own family. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/div]

NAME: Keltic Rose SPECIES/BREED: Canine/ Belgian sheepdog AGE: 4 REASON THEY'D BE A FIT LEAD: She would be a good lead because she loves to be in charge and boss. She is very faithful and loyal and a trustworthy canine. She isn't afraid to challenge if she must, and only fights when it is seen fit. Keltic also has patience, something all herding dogs must have. Keltic is accepting to all animals, but thinks the canine is superior, including wolves. She respect them because they are her ancestors. Other than being those traits previously stated, she wouldn't be able to function with out being in charge of something-more a less-she needs the support of others because she has been relying on humans for almost all of her life. While she was dependent and no lap dog, she still was more sheltered than a feral dog or wolf. WHICH LAND?: Lush Thicket EXAMPLE POST: Keltic Rose trotted along in the thick underbrush, picking her way carefully through the twisting and intertwined trees. Her pointed ears up and alert as her two toned eyes scanned the area. She twitched her nose, picking up the scents of the other animals nearby. The sounds of a scrap hit her senses, and the sheepdog bolted in the direction. She leapt over fallen trees with grace as she came to a small clearing in the thicket. Two other canines like herself were fighting over a kill. She snorted, moving a little close so they saw she was present. "What is going on here?" She asked calmly, looking at both young males.
"It was my prey I tell you" The younger male spoke "I had been chasing this deer for miles but HE took it from me" The younger canine looked at the older, greying canine.
The older one raised an eyebrow lazily "It was fair game...besides how was i supposed to know you had been chasing it?"
The younger one snarled and lunged at the older. With a sigh, Keltic shook her head. The black dog let out a snarl and growl. When it didn't catch the other two's attention, she let out several barks before grabbing the younger by his scruff and dragging him out of the fight. She plopped him down at her side and her fur stood on end as she snarled at both. A warning to stop acting so foolish. When both submitted, ears down and tail between their legs she relaxed and went back to her cool and casual self. She had never lost her patience. "Now, Since the two of you both hunted the same animal, then each shall get half."
"BUT!"
Keltic looked at him and cut him off "Would you rather me give him the whole rabbit? It's only fair that he get half, because he killed it for you. Just like you should get half for running it till it was tired enough to let its guard down. You both helped each-other with out knowing, it is the right thing to do young-ling." In truth she wasn't much older than the male she was talking too.. But years of training had made her brain more mature than his it seemed. Or at least, she was simply more disciplined. She sat, her tail wagging slightly "DO you have any objections?" SHe asked the older male.
He shook his head "Seems fair enough"
"Just like you to say that" The younger male added
"It's best you respect your elders, they can teach you things no one else can" She spoke to the younger male in a calm sincere voice as she got to her four paws again. She walked her body to the rabbit, putting her front weight on it body as she grabbed its front half with her jaw. IN several tugs she ripped it in half and gave each canine a share. "There, problem fixed. Maybe next time you two can hunt together. You make a good team, and teams can always conquer more than a simple rabbit" Satisfied with herself and what she accomplished, the female dog walked off silently, deciding to hunt for her on food.
