The morning had started out like any other; the sun rose above the horizon as steadily as always, painting the sky with bright hues of orange and red, that slowly, with time, faded into the blue morning sky. People had awoken from their slumber, be it to snow or sand, and started their daily routines; nothing whatsoever seemed out of the ordinary. Soon, though, this would all change. As the day went on, night for some, a sudden fog seemed to encompass and devour entire nations at once, leaving people confused, and frightened. It moved throughout the mainland, spreading from place to place, before soon capturing the entire world within its suffocating embrace. Sure, some thought the entire world experiencing this all at once was odd, but the general population carried on, thinking nothing of the odd fog. They were reassured that it would lighten up by majority of the Government, and their lives would be back to normal in no time. Though, after mere hours, just when it looked liked the unsettling fog would lighten up, it did the opposite.
The world turned to hell.
It hit like a harsh, cold slap to the face. Sudden, raging winds began brewing, as rain poured down upon majority of the world without mercy. It drowned entire towns within hours, while sporadic lightning strikes set the only things left above sea level aflame. Trees were pulled from the earth’s surface and tossed recklessly about into the madness, and it didn’t take humans long to realise something was terribly wrong. People clutched onto their loved ones as darkness began to set; the only light coming from the warm glow of the raging forest fires. The flame ate away land quickly, leaving the desperate civilians nowhere to go, but the water and boats. However, humans aren’t what this story is about; no, an entirely different species is the main focus here.
The animals.
People have always said that animals have another sense, and it certainly seemed as if it came into play, during such unexpected madness. Animals of all species and breed escaped from their enclosures and binds, all racing about the remnants of land in a desperate, wild search for safety. As the lands started to descend under water, animals of all places began trekking to higher ground, in attempt to better their chances of survival. The young and old were whisked away within the storm, leaving the stronger animals with the only, possible chance of survival. Soon, as the water levels continued to rise, thunder rumbling above their heads, most species took the chance to plunge into the water, rather than meeting the certain death in which staying upon land would bring. They didn’t know where they were going, or how they would get there, but, each and every single creature knew one thing was for certain. It was their only hope.
Animals and humans alike swam aimlessly for days on end, and in result, most quickly began dying off thanks to fatigue. However, a large group of strong-willed animals stayed afloat, and swam, until they were nearly certain death was upon them. It was at this time, after two long days of swimming and a pure, unbridled will to survive, that the first group of animals hit land. They arrived on a large island, completely deserted from all human life, as well as any sort of large animal life, such as themselves. As different species hollered for their loved ones, the sound captured those swimming miles away, and soon enough, hundreds of animals were making their way to shore.
There’s no way of explaining how they knew; how they predicted the disaster and fled, trusting their instincts entirely, and because of those choices, are now living and breathing. Will they be able to survive here, in this new land? The answer is unknown, but it depends on each, individual animal.
It’s time to embark on a journey; be it for power, survival, love, or war, and live the way in which was originally intended.
Take part in this wild world of madness; begin TWISTING your own FATE.
